A staircase is the centerpiece of any home. Horse Creek Woodworks is dedicated to creating quality custom stair components. All stair components are manufactured with quality hardwoods that have been carefully screened for color and grain patterns in order to produce a superior end product. There are endless possibilities when combining our custom newels, balusters, handrails, treads/risers and other fittings.
Box Newels and Turned Newels: Newel posts are the main anchor to any staircase. They provide the framework in which the balustrade and railing are attached. Horse Creek Woodworks box newels and turned newels stand center-stage of any staircase. All box newels are custom created and constructed in our facility. All turned newels are turned one at a time on our Lathe and then hand sanded.

Handrails and Fittings: Horse Creek Woodworks custom creates and produces all handrail and fittings in our shop. A Weinig molder is used together with custom dedicated precision cut tooling to create the many profiles available for straight handrail. This ensures every piece of handrail is milled to exactly the same dimensions as our fittings. Straight handrail is available in a variety of wood species up to 24 feet long and matched to the species of wood throughout the home. Curved hand rail is created by utilizing a multi-step process. In this process large boards are precision sliced into staves matching color and grain which is then laminated together and pressed on a custom form built for that particular stairway.

Treads & Risers: Horse Creek Woodworks custom creates our stair treads in any size and species. All treads are carefully crafted with attention to detail in matching grain and color patterns. Treads can be milled to any thickness, length or width. Standard treads are generally 1-1/16” thick and 42” to 48” long. Risers are available in virtually any species. We will cut to specified width and height.

Balusters: Horse Creek Woodworks custom creates all of our balusters in our shop. Our wooden balusters and spindles can be square or hand turned on our lathe. All balusters can be created in any species to match the woodwork. Horse Creek Woodworks has the ability to custom match architectural details of existing balusters in restoration work.
